The Northern Elite Football League representatives met virtually this weekend to discuss the 2020 season.
At this point, things will remain Business as Usual for league play; with the first league game scheduled for June 6th. We will meet again in 2 weeks, May 2nd, for any updates from the State Health Departments along with the CDC.
One of the biggest challenges for teams in our league will be field availability. Rentals may be more difficult this season with some schools closed until August and others filling their own schedules for their own teams.
We will also have to look at the recommendations for large gatherings, and may have to play without fans this season.
If we cannot start June 6th, the league also discussed options to move the season back one month - starting July 11th, Championship August 29th - or even playing a shortened season with the Championship still August 8th. If by June 13th there is still no potential to play based on health recommendations, the NEFL may be forced to cancel the 2020 season.
Stay tuned to our website as things progress.
