With a recent announcement, the Hudson Thunderhawks have just made it much easier for their fans and other interested people to follow their hometown semi-pro football team. Beginning this 2018 season, the Thunderhawks will live stream audio play-by-play of all Thunderhawk games on the team’s website, www.hudsonthunderhawks.com.
The first game to be webcast will be on April 21 when the Thunderhawks travel to New London, Minnesota to take on the Minnesota Mudd Dawgs. Kick-off is scheduled for 2:00 p.m. with a half-hour pre-game show, called “Thunderhawk Kick-off,” prior to the actual game. Following the game, there will be a recap of the game called “Thunderhawk Summary.”
The play-by-play duties will be handled by long time stadium voice of the Thunderhawks, Rick Olson. Prior to his teaching career, Olson spent time in the broadcast industry on the American Forces Network in Frankfurt, Germany, where he did the morning radio show. He also worked, in the mid 1970’s, at a radio station in Puyallup, Washington, where he did a brief stint broadcasting high school basketball games. In addition, he was the play-by-play voice of the Fort Lewis Warriors semi-pro football team.
Color commentary for the Thunderhawk webcasts will be handled by Jayme Schulner. Jayme is the team’s Vice President and former Head Coach. Olson said, “I’m very excited to be doing these webcasts, especially with Jayme on the color commentary. He has a lot of football knowledge and will round out the webcasts in a way that should be fun and interesting for the listeners.”
Fans wanting to listen to the games simply need to go to www.hudsonthunderhawks.com. There they will find a section called Thunderhawk Radio and they should click on the button that says, “Listen Here.” They will then be automatically transferred to the webcast. An hour before the kick-off music will begin streaming on the site with “Thunderhawk Kick-Off” beginning a half-hour before the start of the game.
