Members of the Hudson Thunderhawks adult amateur football team took time out of their busy days to travel to Saint Paul on Friday morning, March 23rd, to spend some time playing Sports Trivia Bingo and hanging out with the kids at Children’s Minnesota Hospital. The morning started with the Thunderhawks meeting with Tom Marsolais, the Sports Trivia Bingo Host, who led them to Star Studio in the Child Life Zone where the Sports Trivia Bingo would be televised throughout the hospital. The Thunderhawks were able to play along with the kids in the studio as well as interact with the patients in their rooms. Following the Sports Trivia Bingo, the members of the Thunderhawks went into the recreation area of the Child Life Zone and spent time with the children playing with the toys and games in that area.
The Thunderhawk players were excited to give back to the community and spend some very rewarding time with these less fortunate kids. The players were overwhelmed by the looks of awe and excitement on the kids’ faces to not only see, but also talk with and play with these much larger than they were football players.
The event was spearheaded by Thunderhawk Defensive End Nick Filkins. Filkins was joined by Running Back Cortez Adams, Quarterback Mitch Hewitt, Defensive Backs Micadin Kahl and Joe Russell, Linebacker Ben Seipel, Tight End Josh Wilcoxen, and the team’s General Manager Rick Olson. Olson said, “This event was really meaningful for the players and hopefully for the children as well. It sure seemed to be as everyone was having a great deal of laughter and fun. We can’t wait to come back and do this again.”
